What is PCB assembly?

PCB assembly is the process of assembling a printed circuit board. This consists of many steps that must be done correctly. Among them is to check the design files, which must be detailed enough for the PCB assembly company to make a comprehensive examination for mistakes. Check manufacturing in search of features that may be excessive or lost, which will have a negative impact on the final project. Also, it is important to check the distance of components, which is very important because too little space can cause shorts or damage.

During the PCB assembly process, the solder paste is applied to the PCB, similar to how the screen printer applies ink to the shirt. The assembly will then apply the solder paste to a thin stainless steel stencil which will only cover certain parts of the board. After the paste is applied to the board, the component will be placed on the board in a certain location. This allows more accurate and precise PCB assembly.

After the design process is complete, the board is assembled. PCB assembly involves placing the electronic components needed on the blackboard. Traces, which are copper lines on the naked board, run signals between various features. In the end, the board will function in a designed way. PCB assembly involves several manual and automatic steps. The manufacturer can choose between mechanical and manual assembly for each step. The latter is more accurate and requires minimal skills.

Another important step during the PCB assembly is the placement of surface installation components. The right placement of these components is very important to ensure the final results of the project. For this purpose, the assembler must choose the right package size. A smaller package requires assemblers to pay attention to the placement of components. Errors in this step can cause uneven generation during the soldering process, and can even cause components to stick to one side of the PCB. In addition, inappropriate components that can also affect passive SMD components. The width and size of the track connected to the bearing can cause the component to only attach to one side of the board.

Another PCB assembly method is the Assembly of Boxes. Usually, PCB is a cage like a box, complete with cables and other components. Assembly boxes, on the other hand, refer to the complete assembly of the customer's finished product. The term "box" is also used for PCB assembly in the cabinet with many cables. In the PCB assembly built box, the finished product is fully integrated with the electromechanical system.

Sandwich material alternating on Multilayer PCB is the most common type. The inner copper layer is engraved and coated before the concentrated layer is laminated. The insulation substrate for multilayer PCB is usually the FR-4 glass epoxy. In addition, cotton paper is smoked with phenolic resins and is usually brown. This process requires a careful examination of the board produced.

Some say he’s half man half fish, others say he’s more of a seventy/thirty split. Either way he’s a fishy bastard.
