The North Shore Animal League America, Inc. is looking for a full time Pet Store Manager to help oversee the entire pet store in all facets of store operations. Responsibilities:

Help in training and testing new Pet store personnel and volunteers. This will include working with the new pet adoption policies. Show the staff how to properly handle dogs and cats that have been adopted from the animal shelter. Maintain current adoption records and create a record of the number of animals that have been adopted and the status of each dog or cat. You will also be responsible for collecting monthly dues for the animal shelter.

Show pet owners how to properly socialize their animals with other pets, elderly and sick animals, and people. This will include helping pet owners learn how to respond to and handle common behavior problems such as excessive barking, chewing, digging, jumping, running away, and whining. Pet store managers are responsible for implementing and enforcing all policies relating to the adoption and caring for pets.

Help the store provide quality companionship programs for pets. These programs are available for both adult and children. The programs are designed to create an environment that will foster an atmosphere where pets can freely spend time with their companions without fear of being abandoned or without an emotional investment by the pet owner. Pets that come from shelters or other animal welfare organizations are often very lonely and need the companionship of another companion animal to feel safe and cared for.

Keep up on the latest news and changes in the laws and regulations pertaining to owning and adopting pets. Pets are considered to be members of the family and need the same care and love that families do. Laws are constantly changing and it is your responsibility to become informed about what is legal and what is not legal. A store manager should inform shoppers of any rules or regulations regarding pets at the time of the visit. For example, some cities do not allow pets altogether or at certain times of the day.

Adopting a pet from a pet store or shelter not only gives you animal the care and attention it would receive at a private shelter, but it also provides a secondhand source of companionship and interaction with other animals. There are many things to love about pet animals including their unconditional love, their loyalty and their non-judgmental attitude. Pet stores make finding a loving and suitable pet easy.

Some say he’s half man half fish, others say he’s more of a seventy/thirty split. Either way he’s a fishy bastard.
